Now this, to some of you may look like the height of society's fall. Yes, it is a Like button stamp, bringing facebook to the outside world. This just shows how much are have been infected by social networking. Augmented reality is a future we must embrace, like it or not...

Today I visited a dear friend in my church called Charles, he is a painter - oil on canvas in particular. He told me that he would remain in one place for quite a time, until all the smallest details would jump out at him. This process would continue on and on each day, and slowly but surely the painting would emerge- very lifelike too!
Upon viewing his paintings, I noticed he would often use a sparing amount of colour or light in the image, often around the golden rule of composition (see below)
Whether this be a red coat of a woodpecker, or a beam of sunlight. This intensity was kept to a minimum, keeping the realistic effect of nature yet adding dazzle and sparkle to the art. A very hard balance I believe to achieve.
So how does this apply to typography? Well I would say in many ways, compostion being one of them, for example it being EVER so important to keep a contrast between the micro and macro (also see below)

Pixel-based illustrations made from beads!
This is brilliant and works well as a 'real' life model of the game world, found this quite inspirational to my current hexagonal project, however I am basing my illustrations on real people so cannot use exactly the same method :)

I was just thinking how much we spend on annual calendars can seem insane when you think of
how easy it is to create a series of numbers ordered on a page.
This is a fantastic example of a home made-able design which would be a good excuse to mess about on the letterpress machine in college.
So im gonna go for it, perhaps just one sheet a month as thats alls needed.
Wish me luck!
